Since receiving our first award in 2017, Prapela has become America's most-awarded pediatric medical device startup. With over $8M in grants (and hopefully more), we are honored and motivated to work with neonatologists, the National Institutes of Health, and the FDA to improve the health of newborns.
On March 10, 2023 the National Institutes of Health awarded us with a grant to improve the treatment of central apnea in preterm newborns.
On January 25, 2023 the European Patent Office grants a patent on Prapela's technology for reducing irritability in babies with colic and opioid exposure.
Prapela received our 2nd FDA Breakthrough Device Designation on January 3, 2023. The award accelerates our work in Apnea of Prematurity.
On October 23, 2022, Prapela's innovation for Apnea of Prematurity (AOP) took 1st place in the FDA-sponsored NCC-PDI program.
Prapela was one of 20 companies selected from a field of 700 companies to present at the Worldwide Innovation Summit for Health (WISH)
On May 24, 2022, Prapela became the 1st company from Maine selected into the MedTech Innovator Accelerator Program
Prapela was recognized by Startups.us as one of Maine's best startups. Selection criteria included innovation, growth, management & impact.
Prapela was awarded a second SBIR award on May 25, 2021. The award supports a clinical study led by Tufts Medical Center and supported by 5 other clinical sites
We had so much fun being selected as a finalist on May 7, 2021, in this wonderful community-based competition to support startup companies
On April 20, 2021, Maine Technology Institute recognized our efforts earlier in the year towards our goal of FDA clearance

On February 16, 2018 the NIH/NIDA announces Prapela a one of the winners in their "Start a Substance Use Disorder Startup" Challenge.
In Helsinki Finland, on November 30, 2017 we won the top prize in a field of 135 applicants from around the world.
